Secure SMS messaging using Quasigroup encryption and Java SMS API

چکیده
SMS (Short Message Service) is a widely used service for brief communication. Occasionally the data sent using SMS services is confidential in nature and is desired not to be disclosed to a third party. In this paper an application for sending encrypted SMS messages using cryptographic methods based on theory of quasigroups is proposed. The encryption algorithm is characterized by a secret key. The application is developed using programming language Java and the J2ME environment available in several mobile devices on the market today.

Secure SMS Communication Based on Quasigroup Transformations
By its nature, the SMS communication is insecure and the message information can be viewed of many interested parties. Here we propose a protocol for secure SMS end-to-end communication between two mobile devices. Our protocol is based on a symmetric encryption of the message context. The encryption is defined by using quasigroup transformations. We have considered several possible attacks on o...

Short Message Service is usually used to transport unclassified information, but with the rise of mobile commerce it has become an integral tool for conducting business. However, SMS does not guarantee confidentiality and integrity of the message content. This paper proposes a protocol called SMSSec that can be used to secure an SMS communication sent by Java’s Wireless Messaging API. The physi...

Global System for Mobile (GSM) is a second generation cellular standard developed to cater voice services and data delivery using digital modulation. Short Message Service (SMS) is the text communication service component of mobile communication systems, using standardized communications protocols that allow the exchange of short text messages between mobile phone devices. SMS will play a very ...
متن کاملAchieving Security in Messaging and Personal Content in Symbian Phones
This thesis describes two proposed schemes that could be used to secure mobile messaging (SMS/MMS) as well as one scheme that could be used to secure mobile content. The security services we considered in securing the mobile messages are confidentiality, authentication, non-repudiation and integrity. We used Identity Based Cryptography in order to secure the mobile messaging and Blowfish algori...
متن کاملReal-Time Information Aggregator: Visualizing SMS and MMS Messages System
Mobile messaging is evolving beyond SMS text messaging with the introduction of MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service). In the past, such a scheme is used to peer-to-peer communication. Messages are generally displayed on handset with a limited-sized screen. However, such a visualizing process is not suitable to broadcast real-time SMS/MMS messages to a crowd of people in public. To facilitate the ...
